Viagra is being misused by younger men in Kenya
According to several news sources (www.ippf.org) younger men in Kenya are stating to become reliant on erectile dysfunction medications, especially Viagra. They claim that they take them in order to increment their sexual performance and confidence before having sex with their partner, which is clearly not what Viagra is intended for. How do these young males access these erectile dysfunction medications? They are able to obtain them from pharmacists without any prior prescription or checkup by a doctor, which is very dangerous and these medications should only be prescribed by qualified medical physicians.
Medications such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra can have side effects including headaches, facial flushing, stomach pains and others. Some of these young men are not aware of these side effects, which brings us back to the point why it is very important to have them explained by a doctor. Another risk these young men take is becoming dependant on them, several doctors from a women’s hospital in Nairobi Kenya, explain that becoming dependant on these medications can become a threat to a young mans sexual health and lead to future problems in their overall health, including leading to a heart attack.
These reports have reached the Kenya Pharmacy Board and they have warned pharmacists not to sell erectile dysfunction medications to teens without a prescription, otherwise they run the potential risk of having their license revoked. Some officials have blamed the media and even the parents for causing this wide spread issue. The Kenyan media has been asked to stop adverts that promote impotence medications and only natural aphrodisiac treatments can still be shown and advertised. Younger men are looking in the wrong direction when it comes to treating erectile dysfunction. Commonly the problem is not physical but psychological or performance anxiety. There are several aphrodisiac remedies that can help with mild cases of impotence such as watermelons, Goji Berries, yohimbe, pomegranates and others. If younger men do suffer from erectile dysfunction the first step to take is talking to their doctor about the issue and he will be able to organize the correct treatment option. |
