pregnant womanDoes Viagra helps make babies?

One would imagine there is statistics out there that will confirm that many babies were helped to be conceived by the use of Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis. But all those statistics will be where these erectile dysfunction drugs helped men.

Well there is a new statistic. At the CARE Nottingham fertility clinic, doctors conducted a ground breaking experiment with Viagra on a woman. And no, not to make here horny, but to increase her blood flow in her womb, thus making the womb stronger to conceive a child.

David and Kerry Horan have had a tough go at it trying to have a baby. Kerry had suffered a miscarriage and IVF treatment (3 times) did not help her get pregnant. Furthermore, when they wanted to try IVF again, the doctors had found after scanning her womb that the walls of her womb were to thin to implant the embryo properly.

The same scan that showed the thin womb also showed limited and poor blood flow around the womb. Dr. George Ndukwe at the private fertility clinic decided to prescribe Kerry Viagra, under very close supervision.

Kerry reported that the experience was none to pleasant, and on top of that was not to confident that it would work as it has never been reported that it had in the past. She was shocked when the doctor had mentioned it, but was willing to try anything. Within minutes of the first high dose of Viagra, her body turned all pink and her face bright red. She held in there for almost ten days.

David and Kerry’s little baby girl Grace was born in December who weighed in at a healthy 6lbs 11oz. Kerry said “when we saw the baby’s heartbeat on a scan, we couldn’t stop crying. When I finally held Grace it was the most emotional experience. Thanks to Viagra I’m a mother at last.”

Pfizer, the company that developed Viagra, is primarily used for erectile dysfunction (ED or impotency) in men as well as treating pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Cialis and Levitra perform similarly.

The future looks like it could find other uses for these ED drugs used to help other areas with low blood flow like arterial and heart disease. But a whole lot more research needs to be done to make sure these treatments are safe.

Some of the side affects of Viagra include flushing, prolonged erections, palpitations, sneezing, headache, are the more common ones. Lesser reported side affects are blurred vision and a bluish hue.
