Viagra cannot help men with Low Testosterone
Research has shown that men who suffer from low levels of testosterone do not benefit from taking Viagra for treating erectile dysfunction. Over 50% of the Viagra prescribed to men does not work. This is directly related to low levels of testosterone, which can also be a signal of other health problems.
Dr. Hackett, an urologist who commented on a recent BBC article concerning Testosterone and Viagra, says men are spending too much money on Impotence medications such as Cialis, Levitra or Viagra. It would be better spent on treating the underlining issue, low testosterone.
Edguider Forum: Discuss Testosterone and Erectile Dysfunction ED is the most common sexual health condition men report to their doctors. Almost 50% of men start experiencing erectile dysfunction before they reach the age of 50. Many of these men also suffer from low levels of testosterone, but in their case Viagra will not work and they need to undergo different treatment methods such as testosterone replacement therapy. Talking to your doctor about Sexual problems is the first step Dr. Hackett is one of many doctors who specializes in testosterone treatments and is very familiar with its link to erectile dysfunction, but discussing sexual problems with patients can sometimes become uncomfortable. The British Society for Sexual Medicine has released several important notifications letting doctors know how important it is to communicate with their patients about sexual problems, in both men and women. When a GP is performing a consultation on any adult patient, both should discuss any sexual dysfunction symptoms or problems. This is particularly important to bring up if a GP is doing a checkup on a male patient and finds they suffer from depression, cardiovascular disease or similar heart conditions. Being open about a condition such as ED is the only way to the best treatment plan. |
