Patients Warned Of Using Viagra Sans Prescription
The suspension and incarceration of a doctor who prescribed Viagra for himself instead of seeing a doctor and getting a prescription for his erectile dysfunction medication should serve as a warning to patients about the seriousness of medical watchdogs about getting proper prescriptions for Viagra before purchasing the drug.
Dr. Jonathan Bala, who got a 12-month suspension and 6-month imprisonment for his indiscretion, used the name of his sister-in-law to get Viagra while working in a North Wales hospital. He was only caught when the pharmacist became suspicious of his prescriptions.
Viagra or Sildenafil Citrate has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for distribution. However, Viagra is a prescription drug which requires patients to get hold of a prescription and show this to their pharmacists before they are allowed to purchase the drug.
The drug has been certified as generally safe after it has passed years of laboratory experimentation and FDA studies. However, there are certain side effects and contraindications which are best determined by a doctor, thus requiring a prescription.
Even a doctor, like in the case of Bala, needs a prescription from another doctor before he is allowed to buy Viagra from any drugstore. It is only your doctor who can evaluate the extent of your erectile dysfunction problems in relation to your overall health condition so he is the only person who is authorized to issue the prescribed Viagra dosage for you.
Viagra is a very potent erectile dysfunction pill and it has helped a lot of patients who have problems getting and maintaining and erection. However, do not think that you will get an erection just by taking in Viagra. You may have taken in the erectile dysfunction drug but you still need sexual excitement or stimulation to get an erection. You may be suffering from erectile dysfunction but it does not mean that Viagra is for you. You may have a serious heart problem which makes Viagra or excessive sexual acts a prescription for death. If your heart condition does not allow you to become sexually active then your doctor may desist from prescribing Viagra for you.
Viagra should not be taken in with medications that contain nitrates as it can result to a more serious medical condition. To avoid hurting yourself and suffering from any medical condition worse than erectile dysfunction, make sure you see your doctor and ask for a prescription before you take in Viagra.
