Will long term use of Viagra cause infertility?  This is the question that comes to the mind of most men who take in Viagra .  Not all men who use Viagra have been diagnosed with erectile dysfunction and they fear that this can lead to a serious condition like infertility.

So what really happens if you take Viagra?  The question is important for those who use the drug because they really need it and their doctors have directed them to use it and also for those who use Viagra even without such diagnosis at all.

Pleasure seekers without any erectile dysfunction problems are in fact at a losing end because a Queen’s University (in Belfast, Northern Ireland) research shows that the sperms of men taking in Viagra release albeit prematurely the digestive enzymes that breaks down the egg cell walls.  Thus, their sperms cells can no longer effectively fertilize the egg cells.

A lot of healthy men who are in their 70’s can keep it up sexually without using Viagra’s  This is a shame to normal and sexually healthy men who do not need Viagra at all but who face the possibility of infertility by using Viagra recreationally.

A great percentage of erectile dysfunction problems are caused by psychological problems.  However, other men suffer from the condition due to other reasons like vascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes, prostate removal and ischemic heart disease.  Men who belong to these group and whose doctors think they can be treated with Viagra should weigh the pros and the cons of using such drug.  If bearing children is no longer an issue with them then well and good.  For those who still want to sire children, careful thought must be made before using Viagra.
