Men Suffering from Effects Of Anti-Depressants To Benefit From Viagra

Viagra or Sildenafil may just be the solution being sought by patients who are suffering from the sexual effects of anti-depressant drugs they are taking in.  It has been noted that most men who are into anti-depressant drugs are also suffering from the symptoms of sexual dysfunction.

Among those who experienced anti-depressant related sexual dysfunction were taking in Zoloft, Celexa, Anafranil. Luvox, Prozac, Tofranil, Paxil, Serzone and Effexor. The Journal of the American Medical Association cited a random study on the use of Viagra by men taking in anti-depressants and are at the same time suffering from sexual dysfunction. These men were unable to have an orgasm and had problems with ejaculation. The study found out that 54.5% of the 90 patients who were the subject of the study showed some improvement in their sexual function.

The possibility of improving the sexual functions of patients taking anti-depressants through Viagra is expected to make their anti-depression treatment more effective considering that most (90%) of these patients prefer to stop taking in their anti-depressant medication in order to avoid one of the side effects which is sexual dysfunction.

It is thus clear that if these patients get the necessary treatment for their sexual dysfunctions through Viagra then there is a greater possibility for their anti-depression and anti-anxiety treatments to continue and become successful.

Viagra has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration as a treatment for erectile dysfunction. However, this study shows that Viagra is also effective for patients who are suffering not only from erectile dysfunction but also from other sexual dysfunction.

What is important is that studies show that taking in Viagra does not interfere with the effects of the anti-depressant medication among depressed patients since they have remained in remission.  However, patients should be aware of the possible minor side effects of taking in Viagra like headache, nasal congestion, stomach upsets, abnormal vision and flushing.

If taking in Viagra can help a patient improve his sexual functions despite the intake of anti-depressant drugs then there is more motivation on his part to succeed with his anti-depression treatment.  It may take a long time for the patient to recover from depression but if his treatment continues and given the proper motivation then he might just be able to survive and become anxiety-free the soonest possible time.
