Vitaros Erectile Dysfunction Cream by Apricus Bio Works Within 5 minutes
The vast majority of men suffering from erectile dysfunction are not currently receiving treatment. Many have tried the various available erectile dysfunction therapies but found that they fall short. Pills such as Viagra, Levitra and Cialis have simply not done the job and most available remedies function on the same principles. A new cream from Apricus Biosciences may be the solution.
The cream, which is called Vitaros, operates on entirely different premises than the conventional oral therapies. ED medications all work by inhibiting the protein PDE5, which breaks down the body's signals to relax smooth muscle cells so that blood can enter the penis. Vitaros, on the other hand, uses PDE1 to relax the smooth muscle cells and increase blood flow into the penis.
PDE1, also known in the medical community as alprostadil, has previously been commercially available as injections under the names Edex and Caverject. It is also currently available as a urethral suppository, sold under the name MUSE. The active ingredient is not new, but the extraordinary innovation by Apricus Bio is the idea to bind alprostadil to molecules with a high skin absorption rate. The result is an erectile aid that can be applied topically.

Topical application was recently in the news with the as of yet unnamed so-called "Viagra condom" by Futura Medical. While the erectile dysfunction condom is being marketed towards those men who find it difficult to maintain an erection while wearing protection, Vitaros is an alternative even for those who find it difficult to attain an erection in the first place. Topical application of a cream or gel through a condom requires an erection to work; otherwise the condom will not go on. A simple cream, on the other hand, does not.
Vitaros also has advantages over the more conventional pill therapies. Topical application is associated with fewer side-effects than oral medication. Vitaros also works significantly faster than any currently available pill: results can be expected within five minutes.
Vitaros approved for sale in Canada
Vitaros has already been approved, you can buy it in Canada and it will be available for sale during the second half of 2011. Apricus Bio recently began the process of having the cream approved in the EU and it is expected to reach European pharmacies in 2012. The product has also been submitted to the FDA, but there is not currently any time frame for a US release.
