There have been several studies released over the past year highlighting the fact that Erectile Dysfunction can be a predictor of coronary disease, blood disease or even stroke. Over 100 million men suffer from Erectile Dysfunction. Those who leave this condition untreated are at the risk of heart attack or stroke in less than 5 years.

The numbers indicate that out of ten men who have suffered a heart attack, five of them had previous trouble with erections. This is an alarming number which indicates that half of all men who suffer from ED are likely to get a heart attack, if the condition is not treated.

Most instances of impotence are caused by the hardening of arteries in the penis, this counts for almost 80 percent of cases. Many health conditions can cause clogged arteries, such as, high blood pressure, excessive cholesterol, being overweight and most importantly of all Diabetes. Since the arteries in the male penis are one of the smallest in the body (3mm wide), they are the first affected by bad circulation and a clear sign of future medical problems down the road.

In result, this can also cause depression, which is another factor that can contribute to heart disease.

Diabetes and blood pressure patients have the most risk. Men who do suffer from these conditions should consider on emphasizing this with their doctor. Over 75% of men who do have Diabetes and elevated blood pressure already have and experience ED. It is critical to keep sugar levels and blood pressure to recommended levels.
