Erectile Dysfunction Meds and Turkeys Seized at Dublin Airport
Irish customs at the Dublin International airport have been extremely busy over the past year. More than 1.5 million pounds worth of cigarettes, illegal drugs and even erectile dysfunction medications have been seized from travelers who are entering Ireland. Irish customs believes that this number will rise by the end of the year; especially for people who are trying to smuggle in drugs and cigarettes.
Most travelers try to bring these items into the country though their luggage; up to 1.3 million pounds were found in illicit drugs. This number does not represent cargo planes or express shipping services that pass through the airport, only people traveling with their luggage and carry on.
Cigarettes are another big problem at the moment. The customs manager Mr. Doyle at Dublin International comments: "Cigarettes are a huge problem at the moment. Particularly with the economy the way it is" Impotence Meds, Stuffed Turkeys, Weight Loss Pills…. Common drugs that are smuggled into the airport include weight loss pills, hair loss treatments, hormone products and anxiety medications. A strong rise has also been seen in the importation of impotence medications similar to Sildenafil and Tadalafil. A particular case involved two passengers who attempted to import a set of turkeys. They lacked the proper paperwork for importing and were subject to inspection. Seasonal Shopping Crackdown Another concern is paying the proper taxes for seasonal shopping travelers. Customs has warned passengers on a tighter crack down for people returning from shopping sprees in the US. The proper duties need to be paid and this upcoming crackdown will enforce it, especially in the upcoming Christmas shopping season.
