Levitra Ups 2007 Sales Despite Lesser Promotions
There are at present three drugs that have been approved by the United States Food and Drug Authority as medication for erectile dysfunction. But while other drugs like Viagra are all over the internet and advertisement sites drugs like Levitra are quietly creeping its way to the consumers’ medicine cabinets without much ado at all.
Levitra works the same way like the other erectile dysfunction drugs like Viagra and Cialis by helping patients achieve and maintain an erection during sexual activity. However, there is apparently a great disparity in the amount of sales among the three ED drugs considering seniority and the marketing efforts of the companies behind the drugs.
Despite the lack of publicity, Levitra has reported an 11% increase in sales from April to June or second quarter of 2007. Bayer, the German company behind Levitra is doing well and has reported an increase in profits during the same period for its health care section. Bayer Pharmaceuticals has reported a 117% increase in sales primarily due to their new cancer treatment medications. However, Levitra is starting to become one of its best-selling drugs. Levitra is often used alongside Viagra in independent tests. Men who were given un-named drugs during the test said they prefer the pill (which turned out to be Levitra). Just like Viagra, Levitra is a PDE-5 inhibitor which works up to four hours after it is taken in. The first thing that comes to people’s mind when erectile dysfunction or impotence is mentioned is Viagra. The new drug Cialis is also making its presence felt thanks to heavy marketing of the product. However, even the internet does not yield much information when you look for Levitra. Despite this low profile, Levitra is being launched and marketed as an erectile dysfunction drug all over the world. The lack of marketing and publicity seems to be not a hindrance to the drug as its manufacturer confirmed it is making money for them. Bayer may not be targeting the papers or the other advertising and promotion avenues but it is seriously promoting Levitra among the very people who will write its name on the prescription pads—doctors. Doctors are technically the very people who have been authorized by the FDA to give their patients permission to buy erectile dysfunction drugs Levitra and so Bayer is looking at this sector as an important marketing conduit. With this strategy, Bayer hopes to convince and convert more doctors into prescribing Levitra the next time their patients ask for an erectile dysfunction drug to help achieve and maintain an erection. |
