Default Hearing Loss and PDE-5 Inhibitors

When the news came out last May about the experiments demonstrating a significant correlation between the use of viagra and the incidence of hearing loss, I virtually stopped using PDE-5 inhibitors entirely. I've also had significantly less sex.

I find it hard to believe that this news has not created a bigger splash, and, as far as I can tell, there has been no follow up - just the original speculation as to what might be happening (too much blood flow in and around the hearing apparatus)

I am also surprised that there has apparently zero discussion of this in this forum!

I suppose for many men, gradual hearing loss is an acceptable risk, but I am a recording engineer, a musician, and generally obsessed with sound, so this presents a huge problem.

My ED is probably what is characterized as "light," but still lquite disrupting. Tried Caverject, but the pain, soreness during sex, fear of scarring, and the weird way it makes the top half of your penis more rigid than the bottom are unacceptable.

Since the next truly different ED med to be released won't be ready until 2013, I guess it's time to take some chances with other options, and I'll be trying PT-141next week.

Anyhow, what do you guys think about this?

This is my exact fear. I started taking Viagra 50mg and experienced bad ringing in my ears - especially the left. The tinnitus would start the next day and continue for at least a week every time I took the medication. I went to an ENT doc who couldnt detect hearing loss. My Urologist had me try both Cialis (the worst ringing) and Levitra which has been the best but I am taking a very small dose - around 3mg but still experience bad tinnitus. I am going back to the ENT because I am worried that I may have lost a little hearing but its hard to tell. Besides the ringing, my left ear feels a bit numb.

Are you referring to ZORAXEL? If so, you're absolutely right. ZORAXEL is an exciting breakthrough and will probably represent a revolution in the treatment of ED. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

As for PDE-5 inhibitors, they're the best thing we've got right now. They definitely work and they are generally considered safe. I've been taking Cialis regularly for the last 3 or 4 years and I'm very happy with the results. I've never heard of the side effects you mentioned but I'm sure the percentage of men affected is diminute.

Hi to all !!! Fda warns about this serious (rare?)side effect of pde5-i ! (2007) ! Two years ago i experienced after taking pde5 (c), tinnitus and the feeling of one ear being stuffed !( i was using succesfully pde5 (tadalafil-normal dose) occasionally for a long time) ! I am lucky because my situation restored to normal after some time(had to take specific medication)! Since then i have never used pde5 ,although i miss the fun...:-) I would like to know if the previous pals who posted are ok ! Have u find a way to succesfully using pde5 withous tinnitus? Zoraxel will definetely be free of this side effect ( will have other side effects:P) Also there is a possibility that avanafil is better cause it has very small half life(If half-life is responsible for tinnitus) ( i think 60-90 min compared with 4 hours and 17,5 hours of others).

I have these worries, too. My ED is light, so I could go without a PDE-5 inhibitor, but it sure does work for me.

So do any of you have an alternative now? I am looking for something to replace the drugs, but I am not sure about herbs and devices.

Hi rampart!!! I believe that if you can go without pde5s then you should not use them! Its like risking without reason ! Many people can see also improvement by making lifestyle changes !

I am considering eliminating the pills. I can achieve an erection, but maintaining is not always easy and the pills just give that extra push that I need. So I am considering other methods such as herbs or pumps, rings, etc. That's my question to the guys in the string - are any of you having success for lighter ED using herbs, pumps, or anything else that has reduced risk.

    Thanks,

    Tim

Default I can’t take Prescribed ED drugs …

My doctor said I can’t take these drugs because of side effects and interactions. I’ve been using a product called firminite www.firminite.com/product.php and it’s been working well for me. Also, I like it because you can take it when drinking and I’ve noticed no side effects so far.

I took one Firminite pill and it did help my ED but the headache was way too severe for me so I quit taking it.
