Viagra on empty stomach did not work!
Ok so I decided to starve myself on Thursday because I knew a girlfriend of mine was coming over for a movie. Took 50mg Viagra before she got there and I thought it would work in under 30 minutes. To my surprise it did not! We watched a movie and half way through I decided to eat a sandwich and some chips, about 10 minutes after I started feeling the effects and then the Viagra kicked in and worked?
Why is this? I thought that Viagra on an empty stomach is the way it works best and it has before for me but this time I had to eat some food to jump start it? Does anyone have any ideas why this is?

Faronpats, one urologist told me that it is safe to take 1.5 times the max dose. I tried this last time I had sex with Levitra, and it really worked. We were able to have sex three times in one night. The only problem was I did get a headache, but it was completely worth it.
Give it a shot if you have enough pills.

Viagra and all other PDE-5 inhibitors should be taken on an empty stomach. I don't think it was the food that did it in your case. Sometimes it may take a little longer for the effect to kick in. I always take my Cialis two hours before sex, just to make sure. Vigamed (oral phentolamine) works much faster, you only have to wait 15-30 minutes.

Faronpats: I think I might be wrong here. The official theory is 'don't eat anything and take Viagra on an empty stomach'. But some EDG users have said that a light meal may actually help digestion and speed things up. Next time, I'll take Cialis with some juice or a light snack.
One thing's for sure: don't take these drugs after a fatty meal.

Yeah that's what happened to me as well, flavio is 100% right. Take it on an empty stomach and if it does not work then eat a light snack. If you eat a cheeseburger and then take a viagra it is not going to work that well...

Here's a recent syudy on food and a new PDE-5 inhibitor called udenafil:
"Effect of food on the pharmacokinetics of the oral phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor udenafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction - Abstract
Tuesday, 22 September 2009
Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology, Seoul National University College of Medicine and Hospital, Daejeon, Korea.
Udenafil is a cyclic guanosine 3',5'-monophosphate-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor developed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. The aim was to evaluate the effect of food on the pharmacokinetics of udenafil.
An open, randomized, three-way crossover study was conducted. Fifteen healthy male volunteers received a single 200-mg oral dose of udenafil while fasting, after a low-fat meal, and after a high-fat meal separated by 7-day washout periods. Serial blood samples were taken up to 48 h after oral administration.
Under fasting conditions, udenafil was rapidly absorbed and t(max) was observed typically 1.5 h after administration. The mean t(max) values after a low-fat meal and a high-fat meal were 2.6 and 2.1 h, respectively. The ratios (90% confidence intervals) of the geometric means compared with the fasting condition for C(max) and AUC(last) were 0.79 (0.70, 0.90) and 0.96 (0.89, 1.03) in the low fat-fed condition, respectively, and 1.01 (0.89, 1.15) and 1.03 (0.96, 1.11), respectively, in the high fat-fed condition.
The t(max) of udenafil was delayed under the fed conditions. However, although the C(max) was reduced by approximately 21% in the low fat-fed state, overall bioavailability was not affected when taken with food.
