Default Penile Revascularization Surgery: the CURE a lot of us still aren't talking about

We talk a lot about pills and future ED treatments on here, but I noticed there has never been a thread dedicated to the only cure we currently have for ED: penile revascularization surgery.

From talking to urologists about it myself, as I understand it, the best candidates for it are young guys who have ED as a result of perineal trauma (the grundle area, in less formal terms). This often happens from bike riding or from sporting accidents like skateboarding, where a guy "jocks" himself by falling onto a bar between his legs.

For a young guy who is otherwise healthy, it is often easy to mistake this ED as psychological in nature. If you are young suffering from ED, a question you may ask yourself is: am I slow to fill? If you can get hard, but the erection takes a while to fill, you may have had damage done to your arteries. If your erections are very rapid to fill, then the ED may be in your head, but I would still go to a urologist to get some tests done (Doppler ultrasound and arteriogram) to be sure your arteries are healthy. You may have to go to one that specializes in sexual medicine to have the tests done.

If you do in fact have damaged arteries, you can be cured by penile revascularization surgery. Basically, they take an artery from your stomach and connect it to your penis to get your blood pressure back up to where it should be.

Excellent post Willie, this is extremely important.

Most people tend to say ED is 'all in the head' and 'just relax' (especially if the patient is young) and make us feel guilty about it, but many cases are indeed physical in nature. Like you said, doctors are there to help us, men should lose their fears and seek professional help.

By the way, have you spoken to Dr Lue already? Did you talk about Zoraxel and clavulanic acid? And how is your case doing?

Not yet. Hope to soon, though.
