List of easily obtainable alpha(α)-blockers (performance anxiety ED)
Below is a list of drugs that I obtained by cross-referencing alpha-1 and -2 antagonists from wikipedia with what's available at the only pharma website I presently know of that has highly competitive pricing and has delivered to me before. Do your own research to verify if any of this is right for you; all of these are essentially blood pressure medication and should be taken with care, preferably under the monitoring of a doctor. I am mostly preparing this list for myself if I need it later, but perhaps you guys will find it useful too.
As a quick rundown (this is my relatively limited knowledge), α1 and α2 receptors are involved in the erection process, since they both control smooth muscles. In particular, they respond to adrenaline. During a fight-or-flight anxiety attack (e.g. before penetration), adrenaline is released and this causes you to lose your erection. Alpha blockers prevent adrenaline from hitting these receptors so that this does not take place. Since these same receptors govern other parts of the body, it's usually blood pressure medication that we're primarily looking at -- adrenaline constricts blood vessels, which is not desirable if you want to lower blood pressure. As a result, you should always consult a doctor before trying to mix in PDE-5 inhibitors like cialis/levitra/viagra. Note that the α1 receptor is considered to play a larger role in erection than α2, even though both are considered responsible.
I recently ordered cialis/viagra/levitra at alldaychemist and shipping was reasonably fast and I received what I ordered. If you use it, use a disposable CC -- people have ended up with fraudulent charges months later. So, that's why I am checking up against them. If you have an alternative pharma site confirmed as legit, I'd love to know about it! (edit: just realized there are more sites listed here on edguider -- I will have to research these next time I have more time available)
(Note: ADC allows you to filter by "generics" at the top of the site -- use that to locate these)
Promising drugs- Alfuzosin - Targets α1. Has articles/research championing it as an ED solution (although that is not its primary purpose). Could be a budget replacement for phentolamine (VASOMAX/VIGAMED), ignoring the fact that it does not target α2?
Questionable and/or possibly dangerous- Carvedilol - Targets α1. Blocks beta receptors, which seems very undesirable for an ED drug. May decrease sex drive.
- Doxazosin mesylate - Selectively targets α1-A (this means it does not cover the full spectrum of α1 receptors). I assume it is possibly (considerably) less effective than non-selective blockers.
- Labetalol - Targets α1. Unfortunately, like Carvedilol, it also serves as a beta-blocker with "diminished sexual function" as a side-effect. I believe this is a side-effect to all beta-blockers?
- Phenoxybenzamine - Targets α1 and α2. Although this should be true of any alpha-blocker, it seems to be stressed both on wikipedia and via search results that you cannot ejaculate while on it -- however, I *think* you can still orgasm. Very interesting side effect. Also, it is supposed to have an unusually long effect -- 14-48 hours. Materials and the one study I found indicate this is typically used as an injection, and is not really that effective. Note that its blockade is considered "irreversible", so its effects don't go away until new receptors are created (I don't know much about this -- read wikipediafor more).
- Prazosin - Targets α1. It is specifically administered as an anxiety/panic medication. First dose may have an unusually strong effect; beware fainting. It has been studied for ED use, but the results look poor and indicate it should be stacked with alprostadil (PGE1), which is itself used as a urethral suppository or injectable -- argh!.
- Tamsulosin - Targets α1-A (not the entire receptor spectrum!). Can't seem to find anyone using it for ED, which I suppose makes sense. There is a study that indicates some level of improved sexual functioning, but it does not seem inspiring. Can cause retrograde ejaculation, which is not necessarily a good thing.
- Terazosin - Targets one of the α1 receptors selectively (not the entire receptor spectrum!). I don't see it being used for ED and the only ED references I see are as a side effect of taking it. Steer clear!

Great post!
We should, however, point out that none of these substances are approved ED meds.
I'm not sure what kind of receptors are to be found in the penis, I read several studies on this and there seems to be no consensus.
