Fingers crossed that this drug gets approved.
I've invested in the stocks of several companies who claim their drugs are great, and by the time they get to phase III or after, the FDA slams them and says they don't work or they are unsafe.

This is just a blog post from an average Joe on a stock website, but he claims clavulanic acid causes diarrhea.
Let's hope it works out. If it doesn't, there are still plenty more things in the pipeline.

Thanks for posting this, Willie.
I read what the average Joe had to say and I'm not impressed. He's not a doctor, he never tried the drug and his review is clearly biased. His comments on clavulanic acid are not totally unfounded, though. Clavulanic acid is indeed an old drug and, as far as I know, it has never been used to treat ED. I even tried amoxicillin once to see if it had any sexual side effects and it didn't.
I believe Rexahn may be hiding something (which wouldn't be surprising, this is a new drug that may be worth billions in the future). Maybe clavulanic is not the main ingredient, maybe they've manipulated the substance, I don't know.
I still believe in Zoraxel, though: many urologists have praised Rexahn's drug and there's a study by the University of Utrecht that shows its effectiveness. And its safety profile is impressive. Ok, so it may cause diarrhea in some men, big deal. All drugs have side effects. Viagra is an approved drug and its side effects include blindness and death.
Finally, the average Joe conveniently forgot to mention the Rexahn-Teva deal. Would these guys be investing millions of dollars in a product that didn't work?

viagra does not cause blindness or death . it causes death if a person who is unfit to take it takes it

Interesting info on ZORAXEL and psychogenic ED from the website No title
'Rexahn is developing a drug called Zoraxel™ as a treatment for ED. Zoraxel™ is a clinical stage drug for sexual dysfunction that directly modulates the sexual activity regions in the brain, enhancing the action of serotonin and dopamine, and three phases of male sexual activity: arousal, erection, and release. Zoraxel™ may be the first ED therapeutic to affect all three of these phases.'
'Unlike PDE-5 inhibitors targeting peripheral blood flow, Zoraxel™ works to boost sexual function by directly affecting the brain circuit. Zoraxel™ enhances the action of serotonin and dopamine in the brain, which play key roles in three phases of male sexual activity: arousal, erection, and release. Preclinical studies suggest Zoraxel™ increases dopamine and serotonin levels in nucleus accumbens, a brain region that influences the parasympathetic nervous system which, in turn, controls penile erection.
Because Zoraxel™ may have the potential to reinforce the parasympathetic tone toward the genitalia by modulating either the autonomic spinal cord nuclei controlling penile smooth muscle or parts of the brain projecting to the region, it may offer important treatment benefits for patients with “psychogenic” ED.'
'With its unique CNS-based mechanism, pro-erectile function and minimal side-effects, Zoraxel™ has the potential to be an important new therapy for ED patients.'

Another article on clavulanic acid:
Clavulanic acid stimulates sexual behaviour in male rats
Abstract
Sexual behaviour in rats can be used to predict putative effects on human sexual behaviour. Anecdotic reports exist, that the beta-lactamase inhibitor, clavulanic acid exerts sexual stimulating activities in monkeys. To characterize these pro-sexual activities, clavulanic acid was tested in three doses and compared to one dose of a sexually inhibitory dose of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, paroxetine, in sexually-experienced male rats, selected for a moderate level of sexual performance in a standard 30-min test with an oestrus female. After acute administration, clavulanic acid had minor sexual stimulating effects at the highest dose in the number of intromissions and in the first ejaculation series. After sub-chronic 7-days treatment, clavulanic acid increased the number of ejaculations at all three doses and reduced the number of intromissions in the 1st series at the highest dose. After chronic 14 days treatment, a similar but stronger pro-sexual profile was observed. [...] This remarkable pro-sexual activity of clavulanic acid cannot readily be explained by its mechanism of action as a beta-lactamase inhibitor but could be due to unexpected central activity of the compound.

don't totally understand the medical stuff but Zoraxel looks promising, just have a feeling it may never come to market.

Zoraxel:We have to wait and see how it works
This post is mostly addressed to Flavio!
Well,Flavio,i really have to admit that you are doing a great job regarding research in ED,no doubt about it,despite the few disagreements, actually doubts not disagreements that i have, about some of the things you say.
For example, about Zoraxel,we just have to wait and see how it works after it becomes available,i mean it may "work" fine during the trials, but when it becomes available in public things may be different, don't show such huge trust in pharmaceutical companies, some of the studies may be a little bit manipulative.
Uprima, for example, who was supposed to work in a way similar to Zoraxel, proved to be a failure and was withdrawn from the market because of that, not because of commercial reasons that you mention in another post.
We have to be patient and don't get our hopes to high!
