A new PDE-5 inhibitor is on the way. It's called lodenafil and its side effects seem to be almost identical as the side effects for Viagra, Cialis and Levitra.

Why do they all end in afil? Vardenafil, sildenafil, tadalafil? How many more are there? Are these all PDE5 inhibitors and what is the main function of "nafil". Sorry this might be a stupid question but I have laways wondered why they are called the same at the end?

yes, they will most likely all end in "-afil."

That's a very good question. I know that drug names are strictly regulated by the FDA, but I have no idea why these names all end in -afil.

Apparently, lodenafil is already being sold in Brazil under the brand name HELLEVA:

Wow Flavio, how do you find all this stuff. All the thread you post have excellent new information on ED in general. If it is already approved in Brazil, it should not take to long to come to Canada and the US

I'm not so sure if it will come to America and Europe soon. Brazilians seem to be quite generous when it comes to approving new meds. Oral phentolamine for ED (Vasomax, Viagmed, Vasoviril) has been available in Brazil for a long time and, as far as I know, it's not being sold here.
