research bottle to measureResearcher receives grant to study new ED treatment option

A doctor from Torrance California Dr. Nestor Gonzalez who helped discover a surgical procedure to help men combat impotence received a grant for over 1 million dollars in order to test a new drug option for treating erectile dysfunction in men. Based out of the LA Biomedical institute Dr. Nestor will try to find a long term treatment option for erectile dysfunction by using a medication that has already been approved named Kronos IV.

Most of the money from this grant will be used to conduct clinical trials.  Dr. Nestor hopes this new drug he will be researching can be used in order to replace a surgical procedure he invented that is based on rebuilding tissue in the penis by using stem cells that try to reverse the factors that lead to erectile dysfunction.

The study will last for over a year and results are expected within this time. The procedure is however complicated and expensive and a main factor that is very complicated is finding a donor for stem cells.

There have been many other treatment options researched and studied by scientists and doctors around the globe. So far the most common are impotence medications Viagra, Cialis and Levitra . However, these treatments are only temporary and must be taken before sexual activity and may only last up to 5 hours. There is still been no long-term treatment option for men who have erectile dysfunction, results from this new research will be known within a year
