Bisphenol-AHigh Levels of Bisphenol-A are linked to Erectile Dysfunction

A recent research study that investigated the impact of BPA on men has concluded that exposure to high levels of the chemical BPA also called Bisphenol-A is being linked to erectile dysfunction in men who have contact with it, especially in the work place. This chemical is usually used for producing plastics and epoxny resins which are commonly found in baby bottles, cans and different types of plastic containers, they can even be included in other common plastic products. There have been previous studies done back in 2007 and they all resulted in showing BPA does have an impact on both the male and female reproductive system. For men it mostly had a negative impact on testosterone, loss of sexual desire and erectile dysfunction.

A total of 200 men were studied who had very high exposure to BPA, most of them employees that work as packers, in maintenance or as technicians. The rest were also tested but had no exposure to BPA. The studies conclusion had interesting results, as researchers interviewed in person both groups of factory workers. Those exposed to BPA and those who were not. Among the group who was indeed exposed to Bisphenol-A, most responded with negative results in regards to erectile dysfunction and sexual desire. Final results showed that the men exposed to BPA were 4 times more likely to have problems with reduced sexual desire and 7 times more likely to have issues with ejaculation.

Experts believe that Bisphenol-A can be a risk to both men and also to a womans reproductive system, therefore researchers concluded that more studies are needed as well as an extensive series of tests, to determine what levels of BPA can be safe for exposure.
