Avanafil should be ready by 2012 and works in 15 minutes
Pfizer claims Viagra starts working in 30 to 60 minutes. Eli Lilly says Cialis starts working in 30 minutes to 6 hours. Levitra stands in at 25 to 60 minutes. Well how about 15 minutes and will last the entire sexual encounter? Sound good? Well this is what the new promising drug for Erectile Dysfunction Avanafil is claiming.
Well enter Biotech firm Vivus, effective in just 15 minutes with Avanafil. That could cut down foreplay times to those couples who just want to get on with it. In its final testing phase for the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) to give it the green light, the studies have come back with these times.
Leland Wilson, Vivus’ CEO, says “the magnitude of success in the first 15 minutes was surprising.” From the other currently available oral ED (erectile dysfunction) therapies such as Viagra or Cialis, it shows the profile and differentiation between them.

In a 3.7 billion-dollar industry, this could be huge. From discussions with physicians and patients, the rapid onset of Avanafil will be important in the selection of an ED therapy. Vivus plans to market Avanafil by 2012, and with a report by the American College of Physicians stating that by 2020 some 322 million men will have ED; the numbers could be staggering for them.
