PE Widely Affecting Asian Men

PE (premature ejaculation) almost always occurs before vaginal penetration or within a minute of penetration. This very topic is still very taboo in a very conservative Asia, but according to studies up to 30 percent of men suffer from this. New hope may be on the horizon, the Asia Pacific Premature Ejaculation Prevalence and Attitude Study (AP PEPA) released in December could be the first step in helping make this condition prevalent in the medical community.

Even though as many as 30% of the male population may suffer from this, few men are willing to admit it, and even fewer are likely to seek help with the condition. Around 5000 men from 10 Asian countries were involved in a study conducted by Dr. George Lee Eng Geap, a consultant urologist at the University of Malaya and a clinical associate at the Monash University. The men studied were between the ages of 18 and 65.

Dr. Lee along with Dr. Zulkifli Zainuddin, secretary general of the Malaysian Urological Association both spoke at length trying to create awareness about a PE and educated the public about their misunderstanding on the subject.

This condition which has a distinctive difference from erectile dysfunction (ED) is not a life threatening condition, thus its under publicized. But none the less, according to Zulkifli this condition does have devastating affects on men and their relationships.

This condition can lead to relationships failing, leading to breakups and divorce. It can also make a man refrain from entering a long lasting relationship of any kind and lower there self esteem into depression.

Because of the taboo nature of the condition, men are extremely reluctant to discuss their situation with their partners or doctors to try and come up with a solution. Thus making men go to extreme measures like buying roadside products that only cause other issues, or purchasing products on-line that likely don’t work.

The very first step needed to accomplish is to get men to acknowledge the condition. Second, these same men must improve communication between them and their partners. Once both are on board together, then seek help from the medical community, whether it be a doctor or a psychologist.

With the cooperation of the partner a doctor can better establish a solution to the problem. Most common solutions are approved sprays and ointments to desensitize the penis. Unfortunately sometimes this also desensitizes the woman as well. Some side affects can be skin rashes and irritability.

There are also behavioral strategies that have shown great success, these also include exercises that can be done with or without the partner.

Solutions could also be as simple as managing stress, diet, and exercise.

State Funded Viagra?

Do you think Medicare should pay for Viagra? For some, Medicare is the only coverage they have. It does the job for most, but does it go too far? Some States in the US certainly think so.

Before the “why” she thinks so, let go to some other issues in the East Cost. The State of Virginia does not fund or support abortion. In fact, some Delegates actually went as far as to say this: "The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children." The absurdity of this comment does not deserve comment.

Okay, so if Virginia does not support abortion, and even argues their point with comments like the one above, then why does the state cover Viagra? It will help men get erections to get women pregnant, but will not support women with services needed to protect them. Again, we can give men erections, but we cannot give women birth control?

Even though this has all created an uproar in Virginia, three other “male” public officials released statements agreeing to strip funding for Planned Parenthood. Three are Attorney Generals in fact..

For now, the State of Virginia will continue to provide Viagra to men with ED, to possibly create more unwanted and aborted children in which the State will not support. Go figure.

The battle will continue to be waged in all the States for years to come on whether or not public funding will be used to pay for abortions. And with backwards thinking arch-conservative Christian groups launching campaigns to strip funding from Planned Parenthood, maybe it’s time to start new campaigns to help keep those erections of men in their pants, not fund them.

Majority of Spaniards Think Their Sex Lives Could Improve

A pharmaceutical company recently conducted an on-line survey in Spain which revealed that over 80% of adults believed their sexual relations needed improvement. The December poll revealed for Dr. Ballester, sexologist, that the lack of time on our daily lives, and stress are the root of these results.

More than 3000 people were polled, both men and women between the ages of 25 and 70 years of age. Both sexes agreed that the first problem in their relationship was the simple lack of sexual desire. Over 57 percent for the women, and over 50% percent for the men. The second ranked problem for men was erectile dysfunction (ED).

And despite this ED problem for the men, amazingly only one in ten middle aged men acknowledged this problem with their doctors for possible treatments.

The study also showed many Spaniards are very tight lipped about their sex lives with friends. Women under 35 were the most talkative, and the regions of Extremadura, Valencia, Basque Country, and Galicia had the most open residents that talked about their problems. The women under 35 it turns out happened to also be the most sincere in the Basque Country.

The regions of Spain that had just over 70% thinking they could improve their sexual relationships (lower than the national average of 82%) reside in Cantabria and Extremadura.

Britain’s Bedroom Habits

The Telegraph.co.ok website, an on-line British newspaper out of Kent recently had an on-line survey on Valentines Day. It would seem the impact of the baby boomers coming to retirement age is changing the way you live.

More than 1800 people took the on-line survey. Several interesting facts were found. Divorcees have sex more than 21 times a month, which is over twice the amount of married couples, single people, widows, and even cohabitating people. It also turns out that retirees have more sex than folks still working full time jobs and that are younger than the retirees.

There is a lot of rebound sex in divorcees. Social psychologist Rosie Campbell said that in men it gives them a sense of being off the ball and chain.

And for the retiring baby boomer that is now fitter, better off financially, and generally more active than previous generations, have more sex is just more obvious. Plus, in the past 10 years, the common denominator in the works place is stress. Retirement just takes the stress of the job away the day they walk out the door for the last time. When you are stressed, your sexual performance is greatly affected.

Also, the single mom out there provided for her children, juggling her career between home and work just doesn’t have sex on the brain.

But don’t wait until retirement to enjoy sex again, regular exercise can greatly reduce how people deal with stress.

Over 35% of women surveyed have a sex toy, and over 30% of men over 55 have taken Viagra, a sexual potency drug.

The survey also asked what the most important aspect of a relationship is. Sex came in fifth place, preceded by trust in number one, followed by companionship, humor, and financial stability in fourth.

Some other statistics that are interesting:

Out of 20 heterosexuals between the ages of 25 and 34, one has experimented in sex with someone of the same gender, and over 70% of men watch porn.

Almost 35% of those surveyed claimed the best sex of their lives was from the ages of twenty five to 34. And those that said it was best between eighteen and twenty four was 23%. Under 1% for those who thought it was best under 18, and a mere 3% for those over the age of fifty five.

And when it comes to those cheating ones out there it turns out that just under 30% of men have sampled another, and about 21% of women have had an affair. And it turns out that the younger ones out there between the ages of 18 and 24 are almost 2 and a half times more faithful than those aged 35 to 44.

Sex Sometimes is a Laughing Matter

Sometimes you just have to smile. Apparently sex can reveal a whole lot more than you just being horny. A recent study showed that increased sexual activity reduces the risk of heart disease. Isn’t that like saying “if you eat better, you’ll be healthier?”

Doesn’t it seem that if you exercise, you’ll be healthier? If you break it down, what is sex? Well it’s like all types of exercise combined. Cardio, muscular, aerobic, mental, the whole can of worms. So when the American journal of Cardiology recently released yet another new study that reported men whom have sex more than twice a week had almost half the risk of heart disease than men who had sex only about once a month, you just have to smile. Yup, and if you drink water you will not be thirsty.

Just the simple fact that if a man can have sex 2 or 3 times a week and he’s middle aged says more than how lucky he is, it means this guy takes good care of himself. Sex may be a barometer into a mans health, but so is a guy who can run 10 miles, or a man who can cycle 30 miles, it’s all relative.

Funny stuff aside, a problem like erectile dysfunction doesn’t mean you have or are going to have heart problems, but it very well could. Anytime your body changes, it could be more than just the simple fact that you’re aging. Always seek your doctor’s advice on all matters, and never wait until it’s too late. These possible early symptoms maybe indicators of something more serious. Talk to your doctor about everything, he cannot possibly diagnose you properly if you are not open and up front with him or her.

A low sex drive can also be brought on by other factors even in men who seem to be in good shape. Certain foods can be a libido killer just like some foods can help your libido. Excess coffee, nicotine, and frequent alcohol and drug use are huge culprits. Consult your doctor about medications you maybe taking as well. Some very popular blood pressure medications are known to have serious affects on the libido. In this case, make sure your doctor isn’t part of the problem by prescribing these to you.

Stress can be extremely detrimental to your sex drive. There are several breathing exercises out there that can help manage stress. Or it could require a life style change. Humans still are not fully up to speed on the way stress can manifest itself in you.

Broken down, better health means a better life. If you exercise regularly, eat properly, drink lots of water, then everything comes easy. More sex is easier if you’re healthy, as is exercise. So they all do go hand in hand. Unhealthy men are just the opposite, stairs, tying you’re shoes, and sex is very strenuous. If you are thinking of turning yourself into a healthy man, it doesn’t mean you can just jump into the sack and just start romping the wife like you are 19 again. You need to start slowly and build up the capacity to do more.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be in the category of the men who have sex 2 or more times a week when you in your fifties. Maybe then the midlife crisis would be easier too, and cheaper than having the need to go out and buy a Corvette.

Foods, Beliefs, and Sexual Desire?

History has shown us that everyone has a cure for impotency, or an aphrodisiac to help with the attraction between the sexes. Whether ingesting the solutions or the aromas from them, there are written accounts of these passion inducing ingredients. Be careful however, some of these items need to be taken in moderation as they can have the opposite affect than the desired one.

Even the scientific community has been involved with some recent break troughs’. Let’s steer away from the recent discoveries of the likes of Viagra and Cialis, and look back on some other not so advertised solutions. So here they are in no particular order, and just in time for a nice dinner out or at home.

Coffee has a well known stimulant called caffeine. Coffee can stimulate body and mind for a romance filled night. But beware, there is a downside to coffee, too much and it becomes a depressant.

Alcohol is another stimulant in moderation. It increases confidence, and lowers inhibitions. However, too much and your romantic side could falter.

Carrots were believed by early Middle Eastern royalty to aid in seduction. From then until now carrots are believed to be a stimulant for males.

Avocado was known to the Aztecs as Ahuacuatl, literally translated means testicle tree. The ancient ones thought that avocados hanging in trees in pairs resembled male testicles, making it a male stimulant.

Oysters were recognized as stimulant by the Romans in documentation from that civilization in the 2nd century A.D. Their hypothesis is that oysters ingested by woman with wine made their ways wanton. They also noted the giant oyster resembled female genitals.

Mustard was believed to increase desire and stimulate the sexual glands.

Almond was thought throughout the ages as a symbol of fertility. The almond aroma is believed to increase passion in women.

Pineapple is a homeopathic treatment for impotence.

Vanilla flavor and scent is thought to increase lust.

Bananas are super rich in potassium and B vitamins, which are necessary for the production of sex hormones.

Ginger, either crystallized, raw, or cooked, is a stimulant to the circulatory system.

Garlic is said to stir sexual desires. The heat in garlic is said to do more than get you in the mood, it also is a cure for everything from colds and flu to heart disease. Remember that both partners should partake in its consumption due to its strong fragrance.

Asparagus in the 19th century was served to bridegrooms in three courses because of it’s aphrodisiac powers.

Sweet basil is thought to give the body a general sense of well being as well as boosting fertility and stimulating the sex drive.

Honey in Egyptian times was used as a base for many medicines, including cures for impotency and sterility. Mead, a fermented drink made from honey by medieval peoples, was given to lovers on their honeymoon to sweeten the marriage.

Nutmeg was a highly prized aphrodisiac by Chinese women. It quantity, it’s actually a hallucinogenic.

Chocolate: Why not leave the best for last. It is a nourishment of the Gods thought the Aztecs. Chocolate contains an amino acid which helps increase the amount of dopamine in your body which is a chemical that surges during orgasm. It also has a similar affect like caffeine to give you more energy.

A piece of dark chocolate. An ounce and a half of dark chocolate a day can reduce the stress related imbalances in your chemistry according to the Journal of Proteome Research. Try it for two weeks if you rate yourself as one of those people feeling highly stressed. Chocolate also has an amino acid called phenylalanine. This amino acid raises the body’s endorphins and produces dopamine, and you all know dopamine is a brain chemical that surges during orgasm.

Chocolate is also like a drug in some ways. It contains small amount of chemicals that affect brain activity that gives us ecstatic or elated feelings. One of there chemicals is tryptophan, which is the building block of serotonin, the reason we will get the elated feelings. Lowers stress, increases dopamine, and gets you elated? Throw the partner in and you are all set for a roll between the sheets.

Watermelon. Texas A & M’s researchers have found that watermelon creates similar affects that Viagra does. According to the research, watermelon relaxes blood vessels, which helps increase blood flow, which is the way Viagra works. Arginine is an amino acid in watermelon that helps the heart and improves circulation.

Pumpkin Seeds. Many men are zinc deficient, and pumpkin seeds are loaded with the stuff. Zinc has been shown to increase testosterone, which also increases sexual desire. In several studies, zinc had shown improvements in potency, libido, and frequency of intercourse. These improvements were not shown in the placebo groups. Plant sterols found in pumpkin seeds also reduce the risk of heart disease, and help fight cancer. If you are one of those who like to eat the shell of the pumpkin seeds, they also help clean the intestines of worms if you have diarrhea. And it doesn’t stop there, these seeds are also loaded with protein, fiber, a quarter of our iron requirements, manganese, magnesium, copper, and vitamin K.

Spinach. Magnesium, spinach is loaded with it. One bunch (340 milligrams) contains 269mg of magnesium, which happens to be 67% of your daily requirement. Magnesium gives you energy, relaxes muscles, and soothes the nerves making us more open.

These are options that can be used as snacks and salads. They give you energy and can help the libido, which go hand in hand for those with libido issues. Include other fruits and vegetables, and plenty of water to help flush out the bad stuff and your on your way to being healthier overall than just in bed.

Taxpayers Footing Prisoners Viagra Bill?

This prison system in Great Britain has some big perks. The release of a convicted terrorist last year for the bombing of a Pan Am flight raised some eyebrows because he was on his death bed. The Scottish system allows for these convicts to die at home with family.

For his part in an attack that killed another man, Ryan Scott was given a plush air mattress in his “joint” because he was complaining of a sore back.

The West Lothian Penitentiary called “The Addison” by its inmates have flat screen TV’s and Freeview for their entertainment, and some cells were reported to be private with en-suite showers and air-conditioning.

Now it has been reported that inmates whom have weekend leave are being handed Viagra for their conjugal visits. Just last week a spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service confirmed that this £5 ($7.98 USD) was being handed out.

Doctors at the prison are prescribing them for hardened guys out for the weekend. A jail source reported that the convicts are obviously happy they are getting “something for the weekend”.

Tory justice spokesman blasted the scheme saying “How on earth can this be justified? There is no reason the taxpayer should be paying for this.”

The same source said that only prisoners that meet NHS guidelines for erectile dysfunction are being supplied the Viagra. This is the same criteria that men in the community are faced with.

But does this simple fact make it okay for the taxpayers to be footing the bills for flat screens, air conditioning, special air mattresses, and ED drugs?

What is the point of prison with all these perks? Maybe keeping the prison populations moral high to make life in general more tolerable?

Everybody has an argument for and against these perks for prison inmates, but the final judgments are all on the wardens of these jails, what they do with their budgets to make the jails run smoothly are their decisions.

And as far as this spokesperson is concerned, “What prisoners do on home release is a matter for them, and long as it is within the law.”

And The List Keeps Growing

Many men are always looking for more excuses to have more sex, and goods ones. Some of the ones being used have been refuted, so thanks to more and more studies on erectile dysfunction, some new ones are coming into the limelight. So how about this one; Regular sexual activity is good for the heart, and studies can prove it.

Let’s face it, ED is huge business, and now that it’s an illness, studies of all sorts from all walks of life are getting involved. Correlations between erectile dysfunction and heart disease have been made. Taking it a little further and new studies are showing that not only exercise is good for the heart, but so is sexual activity. But it’s on a different level as sexual “exercise” also decreases stress on an individual, and promotes better relations with your partner, which always makes life better all over the map.

Susan A. Hall, PhD, at the department of epidemiology at the New England Research Institute writes that men who have regular sexual activity of twice a week or more have reported less cardiovascular disease than men having sex once a month or less.

Over 1150 men with an average age of 50 were studied for an average of over 15 years. None of these men had any cardiovascular illness at the start of the study, and of them all just over 210 had reported issues with erectile dysfunction.

An interesting pattern started to emerge, men were found to have a more increased probability of cardiovascular issues that had a decreased amount of sexual activity. In fact, it was found that men with lower sexual encounters of once a month or less had a 45% higher risk of cardiovascular problems than men with a reported sexual activity of 2-3 times a week.

The results actually suggest that low sexual activity could actually predict cardiovascular problems. And this is independent of the ED issues pointing toward possible heart blockages as a possible indicator.

Dr. Hall mentioned that “Men who are sexually active likely have a libido and the capacity for physical activity. So the ability to have sex might be a marker for overall health”.

So, should doctors now include questions about their patients sex lives, sexual activities, and sexual interest as a screening method for getting clues about their cardiovascular condition?

Or how about “Honey, I need to keep healthy to watch our children grow up and take care of you until we get old, so let’s do it, okay?” That sounds like a new and improved reason.

Can Cialis, Levitra or Viagra affect our behavior?

Thinking Viagra is going to turn you into a wild sex machine? Or do you think Cialis is going to make you so horny you will risk having unprotected sex? Maybe Levitra will last so long that you want to go out and do it with whomever and wherever? It turns out, no.

Dr. Robert Cook, an associate professor at the University of Florida, is the lead researcher looking into this very question. Does ED (erectile dysfunction) medications make us take risks? It turns out if these drugs are prescribed and used responsibly the findings show that they do not affect our behaviors. These studies certainly give health care providers some assurances toward prescribing them.

What made this study unique is that unlike previous studies, it did not focus on men with substance abuse problems, men who obtained the ED medications without a prescription, or men who had sex with other men.

Cook said “In this study we looked at erectile dysfunction drugs and sexual behavior in the context of routine health cat for a group of men who are more representative of the general population.”

Data from over 2780 men with an average age of 52 that were involved in a study about aging veterans was used. Roughly half were HIV-positive. With the research parameters being that risky sexual behavior was defined as men having unprotected sex with HIV positive men, negative if you are positive, or the reverse, or unknown.

The study finding showed that about 9 to 10% of the men in two groups, those who did and those who did not take the drugs reported sexual behavior as risky. Over 25% of these men had been taking ED drugs over a 1 year period.
