But some marriage counselors are saying that Viagra is certainly helping marriages, but at the same time it can be destroying others. Experts are now saying that men are taking this ED medicine and not telling their partners. And as a result of these men’s improved libido and self esteem, they can go looking elsewhere outside the relationship to satisfy these needs.

Harvard School of Medicine published a report saying just that. The report, “Sexuality in Midlife and Beyond,” now confirms what these marriage counselors have also been reporting, that although the ED medicines have improved relationships, others are suffering.

The reports reads, "When intercourse is suddenly a possibility again, relationship issues can emerge or resurface, as can dramatic differences in libido. The bottom line is that couples should try to regard these drugs as an opportunity to renew their sexual relationship, while realizing that ED drugs are neither a mandate to have intercourse nor a panacea for every problem in the bedroom."

Assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Altman, and licensed clinical social worker and certified sex therapist Suki Hanfling both edited the 48 page report. Couples need to work together to resolve sex issues including ED. Viagra is a tool for couples, and these couples need to understand this. In reality, it is not just for the man. This is Hanflings biggest concern with Viagra. She is the founder and director of The Institute for Sexuality and Intimacy which is located in Belmont, Massachusetts, and see’s these issues all the time.

If a man tells his wife before hand and works into the new sexual relationship, Viagra can help this new relationship mature and enhance a relationship. But is a man jumps into it with both feet, and is all of a sudden in the mood all the time, this can be overwhelming for the wife.

Hanflings always advises that couples need to make the decision together before actually buying the ED drug. They could even go to their physicians and learn how to use it. Like anything out there, there is instructions for proper use.

If this increase libido does make a man go looking for another partner that leads to divorce, chances are there were other underlying issues in the relationship, which makes the drug unlikely to be the culprit.

Spokeswoman for Viagra Jenifer Jacobs says oversexed men with wives having trouble coping is a very rare circumstance.

A British study on the subject of a women’s Viagra type seems to think so. The British researchers studied the affect of the experimental drug (also by Pfizer) on rabbits. For years researchers have studied the affects of drugs and treatments for women on rabbits. Researchers tested the rabbits by sexually arousing the rabbit then gave it the drug. The prototype actually bolstered the arousal by simulating the human body’s natural process.

As we all know however, the human brain is hugely more complex than a rabbits. The neuro pathways maybe similar, but it ends there. They are aiming at getting more blood flow to the genitalia to enhance and extend the duration of arousal, but the physiological problem of getting the blood flowing is only a portion of the entire equation for women with sexual dysfunction.

FSAD (female sexual arousal disorder) can be caused by several factors, and blood flow is only a small percentage of the big picture. Sheryl Kingsburg, chief of the division of behavioral medicine at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, says that “This is the closest thing out there to Viagra for women, but the problem is that a Viagra-like effect will not solve the majority of sexual dysfunction cases in women.”

Kingsburg went on to say that in contrast to men, erections were the key, men wanted it, but physically they couldn’t get one. In women, only five percent who have a sexual disorder are related to blood flow. So possibly for those 5% this could be the right option and even a safe one.

The drug they are testing is one that blocks the enzyme which controls the blood flow to this region of the body. The drug seems to allow greater blood flow thus a greater physiological arousal. The lead researcher on the project, Chris Wayman adds however that the drug does not create the arousal, only helps keep it once it’s there.

Physical and emotional cues trigger the brain into telling the body to increase blood flow to the genitals when a woman gets sexually aroused. This lubricates the vagina and increases the sensation as well as relaxing the muscles in the vagina making it easier to penetrate.  If this blood flow doesn’t happen, then sex can be painful and not very pleasant for the woman. This then can trigger a low libido if past sexual experiences are unpleasant. But an increase in blood flow can be like a shot of adrenalin to the body.

That takes care of the 5%, what about the rest?
The majority of the women have a different issue; arousal is not the problem but desire. For men, Viagra boosts the arousal, which increases the blood flow to the penis, which has been very successful. Unfortunately it’s not the same for women. Desire has many factors, physiological, psychological and biological. Before women can pop a pill to address all those factors like a man is quite possibly a long way off.

But in the meantime, if a company like Pfizer can help women, if even it’s only the five percent, why not?

Medsafe intercepted at New Zealand’s border fake medicines claiming to be Viagra and other medicines claiming to help with erectile dysfunction. These medicines actually included as a major ingredient a substance called guano! Guano is actually bat and bird feces. Other ingredients included whole insects, hair, charcoal, and dust mites. Dr. Clare Strachan, Otago University Researcher and other health experts are warning online shoppers to please beware of purchasing medicines online. Dr. Strachan reported in a recent study some medicines actually contained completely different medicines than what was advertised. She even cited a case in Singapore of a man who had taken an online medicine reported to be an ED drug which actually contained a diabetes drug. The man died.

The battle will continue to be waged in all the States for years to come on whether or not public funding will be used to pay for abortions. And with backwards thinking arch-conservative Christian groups launching campaigns to strip funding from Planned Parenthood, maybe it’s time to start new campaigns to help keep those erections of men in their pants, not fund them.

This prison system in Great Britain has some big perks. The release of a convicted terrorist last year for the bombing of a Pan Am flight raised some eyebrows because he was on his death bed. The Scottish system allows for these convicts to die at home with family.

But does this simple fact make it okay for the taxpayers to be footing the bills for flat screens, air conditioning, special air mattresses, and ED drugs?

What is the point of prison with all these perks? Maybe keeping the prison populations moral high to make life in general more tolerable?

Everybody has an argument for and against these perks for prison inmates, but the final judgments are all on the wardens of these jails, what they do with their budgets to make the jails run smoothly are their decisions.

And as far as this spokesperson is concerned, “What prisoners do on home release is a matter for them, and long as it is within the law.”

Although this medical research is in fact happening, The FA have refuted the tabloid reports about the use of Viagra, in fact there has not even been discussions into this area. According to the study in Canada the per capita spending on all prescription medications was for $578. So in British Columbia the spending was at an all time low of $432. But which province had the highest spending? To be precise Quebec had the highest $680 of spending on prescription medications.

This giveaway program from Pfizer does have a few terms, for example, you have to have been on the medication requested for at least 3 months and have been laid of since January 1st. The company has been criticized over the years of very high prices and the economic crisis is not helping, this might help give the company some better recognition by former employees and help them stay by their brand.
