How noticeable is a Penile Implant?

The only visible mark that you will see is a small scar underneath your penis that goes from the bottom of the penis to the scrotum. It is highly unlikely that a sexual partner will notice you have one implanted, unless they look in detail under your penis.

Are they effective and what is the success rate?

According to several surveys, the prosthesis’s have a success rate ranging from 90 – 95% and can produce stiff firm erections. Some men complain about the length of the penis with an implant, claiming that before, erection size was longer. The only negative side of penile implants, is the possibility of getting an erection naturally, without the device. Once a man decides to get this procedure done there is no turning back. Most men who have had the implants taken out, are never able to achieve an erection again and depend on this device.

1) Bendable (Malleable) Prosthesis

bendable PENILE PROSTHESIS

The first type is the bendable prosthesis, which might not be the best solution for those men who want complete control on when you need an erection and when you want it to completely go away. The downfall with the bendable option is the pair of metal rods that are implanted in the penis. The penis is always semi-rigid and all that needs to be done is adjust the metal rod and position it in order to have sex. Once finished the rod can be bent back into a flaccid state, but the penis still stays semi-rigid, making it hard to keep hidden.

2) Hydraulic Inflatable Prosthesis

Hydraulic Inflatable Prosthesis

The most common ones are the inflatable hydraulic prosthesis. This let’s you choose when you want an erection and when you want it to go completely flaccid again. It is the most natural prosthesis available and widely selected by men.

It has two built in cylinders, a pump and a reservoir that are all surgically put in the penis. The cylinders are placed inside the penis, both connected with tubing to the reservoir. The reservoir actually goes below the groin and the pump is placed right between the testicles. All that needs to be done to get it all started is pressing the pump. This will pass fluid from the reservoir to the cylinders, inflating them and producing an erection.

Once you are ready to stop and want to reverse the erection, there is a button at the bottom of the pump that will release the liquid and the penis will go back to hanging loosely.
