Top 7 Options In Treating Erectile Dysfunction

7 Ways of Dealing with ED

Having trouble getting it up? Well maybe it’s time to see a doctor. Diagnosing your erectile dysfunction problem on your own can be hazardous. The underlying problem can be anything from stress, to diet, to exercise, to a heart condition to a psychological problem. Because there are a wide variety of issues that can cause ED, your condition must be discussed with a professional, period.

7 ways of treating ED

If you do suffer from ED, it is the best time in history to have it. There are any number of aids/solutions to the problem. Ever since 1998 when Viagra broke into the market, ED has become a high profile problem, thus making an industry of solutions. Here are some of those solutions you can discuss with your doctor that are available today in no particular order:

1. Surgery
This is the least popular option of the seven. Only 1% of men with ED can actually benefit from it. And there only happens to be a handful of surgeons who perform vascular surgery.

2. Implants
There are two types of implants available today. Inflatable implants are inflated by a pump implanted in the scrotum which inflates cylinders in the erection chambers of the penis. The other is malleable implants. These are bendable rods that can be manipulated by hand into either an erect position, or a flaccid position.

3. Pumps
All laughing aside, penis pumps are quite effective and a low cost way of getting blood flow to the penis. These are available over the counter, but it is recommended to use a constriction ring to make it last.

4. Constriction Rings
These rings also known as cock rings can help maintain an erection once one is achieved. These limit the blood flow leaving the penis. These rings should never be used for more than 30 minutes at a time and should be removed immediately if you experience pain, numbness, or cold in the genital area.

5. Injections
These medications are usually tried if oral pills are not affective. The medicine is injected directly into the penis, either on the side or at the base, with a tiny needle. These medicines perform much like ED medication and your doctor can teach you how to do this at home on your own.

6. Suppositories
Now this is for men who do not react to pills, and are terrified of needles. The suppositories, called MUSE, are not as affective as the injection as the body doesn’t only distribute the medicine to the genitals, but is absorbed elsewhere losing it’s strength.

7. Pills
The most popular way of dealing with ED today is the use of orally taken pills. The success rate with ED medications like Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra are up to 70 percent or more depending on which report you read. These pills are generally safe, and some side affects are headaches, sinus congestion, blurred vision and indigestion. Most reported cases are very mild.
