Foods, Beliefs, and Sexual Desire?

History has shown us that everyone has a cure for impotency, or an aphrodisiac to help with the attraction between the sexes. Whether ingesting the solutions or the aromas from them, there are written accounts of these passion inducing ingredients. Be careful however, some of these items need to be taken in moderation as they can have the opposite affect than the desired one.

Even the scientific community has been involved with some recent break troughs’. Let’s steer away from the recent discoveries of the likes of Viagra and Cialis, and look back on some other not so advertised solutions. So here they are in no particular order, and just in time for a nice dinner out or at home.

Coffee has a well known stimulant called caffeine. Coffee can stimulate body and mind for a romance filled night. But beware, there is a downside to coffee, too much and it becomes a depressant.

Alcohol is another stimulant in moderation. It increases confidence, and lowers inhibitions. However, too much and your romantic side could falter.

Almond was thought throughout the ages as a symbol of fertility. The almond aroma is believed to increase passion in women.

Pineapple is a homeopathic treatment for impotence.

Vanilla flavor and scent is thought to increase lust.

Bananas are super rich in potassium and B vitamins, which are necessary for the production of sex hormones.

Ginger, either crystallized, raw, or cooked, is a stimulant to the circulatory system.

Garlic is said to stir sexual desires. The heat in garlic is said to do more than get you in the mood, it also is a cure for everything from colds and flu to heart disease. Remember that both partners should partake in its consumption due to its strong fragrance.

Asparagus in the 19th century was served to bridegrooms in three courses because of it’s aphrodisiac powers.

Sweet basil is thought to give the body a general sense of well being as well as boosting fertility and stimulating the sex drive.

Honey in Egyptian times was used as a base for many medicines, including cures for impotency and sterility. Mead, a fermented drink made from honey by medieval peoples, was given to lovers on their honeymoon to sweeten the marriage.

Nutmeg was a highly prized aphrodisiac by Chinese women. It quantity, it’s actually a hallucinogenic.

Chocolate: Why not leave the best for last. It is a nourishment of the Gods thought the Aztecs. Chocolate contains an amino acid which helps increase the amount of dopamine in your body which is a chemical that surges during orgasm. It also has a similar affect like caffeine to give you more energy.
