Sufferers of pulmonary arterial hypertension experience shortness of breath due to a deficiency in oxygen. PAH is seen as a rare disease which results to high blood pressure in the arteries. Research on the other erectile dysfunction drugs particularly Viagra also shows its efficacy as a drug for pulmonary arterial hypertension and Cialis may have been banking on that when it conducted its own research to discover the other uses of Cialis. The three erectile dysfunction drugs Levitra, Cialis and Viagra are PDE5 inhibitors and maybe effective in fighting PAH. Viagra, under the name Revatio, is already being sold as treatment for pulmonary arterial hypertension.

A study involving more than 400 patients showing symptoms of pulmonary arterial hypertension was conducted.  The study shows that the hemodynamic parameters of the subject, in relation to their hypertension severity, improved with Cialis.
