Physiological or Psychological Erectile dysfunction
What is the difference between Physiological and Psychological Erectile Dysfunction? Well the term Psychological means that the ED can come through a mental process, perhaps experiencing large amounts of stress and coping with anxiety can cause this type of ED. Physiological can mean there is physicaly something wrong and your Erectile dysfunction is caused to do lack of exercise, obesity, diabetes, proper diet and most likely a medical condition only your doctor can diagnose.
What is Nocturnal penile tumescence? This is also called “Morning wood” and many men get this during the night and sometimes in the morning when they wake up and they have an erection lasting anywhere from 2 – 10 minutes. If you wake up in the morning with and firm erection but do suffer from erectile dysfunction when trying to have intercourse, this can be the first sign you have Psychological Erectile dysfunction. All Men with Physiological ED do not experience morning wood. Here are three tests your doctor might have you do to find the exact cause of your erectile dysfunction:
1) Nocturnal penile tumescence test: As explained above this tests is to see if a man is getting erections during sleep and to see if the erections lasts from 3 to 5 minutes.
2) Intracavernosal injection test: This is an injection the doctor injects into your penis that creates an erections. The purpose of this is to see how long the erection lasts and the results are measured by your doctor.
3) Doppler ultrasound test: Is a tool used by Doctors to measure the speed and direction the blood is flowing through your blood vessel. It is a hand held tool that the doctor passes over the penis.
