Those with RGS2 and sildenafil had stronger heart muscle contraction, less hypertrophy and had enzymes that showed stress-related activities which are ten times lower than the subjects which remained untreated.

These studies can further lead to the development of sildenafil-containing drugs that will be beneficial for people with heart problems. At present, ARB inhibitor and ACE inhibitor drugs are being used to treat heart failure, an illness that affects over 5 million American every year.
