Danger of men using Viagra for confidence eyed

Viagra has become such a status symbol that even younger men who do not have a need for an erectile dysfunction drug like Viagra at all are using it to boost their confidence.  Who wouldn’t want a stronger erection when the cost is only equal to the cost of this blue pill?  However, using Viagra when you do not suffer from erectile dysfunction can have long term repercussions to your health.

The United States Food and Drug Administration had approved Viagra as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.  While the drug is generally safe as proven by the various laboratory tests conducted by Pfizer prior to its approval, it however remains a prescription drug to make sure that only those who have been diagnosed with erectile dysfunction will use it.

However, the reputation achieved by Viagra has not only made the erectile dysfunction pill attractive to those with sexual dysfunction problems but even among healthy young men who do not even need Viagra to get it up. These men are apparently using Viagra not only to boost their erection but also their egos.

Take the case of men who suffer from performance anxiety for any reason at all and who fail to get an erection or have a problem sustaining their erection.  Instead of solving their psychological problems the right way which may be through counseling or building their self esteem, they turn to the easiest solution available—Viagra. However, Viagra is not the answer to the erection problems of perfectly healthy men who can achieve normal erection by some other means.

By taking Viagra to get an erection and to boost their confidence level, these young men may become totally reliant on Viagra that they can no longer achieve an erection without using the drug.  Developing a psychological dependence on Viagra is a greater problem than failing to achieve an erection just because you are nervous or you are not relaxed. After all, sexual relationships should be special for two people who mean something to each other so it may be best to build a relationship first before jumping into the sack to avoid erection problems.

Failure to achieve an erection should not be blamed on erectile dysfunction alone unless it has been diagnosed by a doctor.  There may be other reasons for your symptoms so make sure you see a doctor and do not self-prescribe or give yourself Viagra.
