Is The Economic Crisis Affecting ED sales?
The economic crisis is a worldwide phenomenon but it is not being felt by pharmacies as they continue to enjoy brisk sales of erectile dysfunction drugs like Viagra, Levitra and Cialis. Factors like the worsening economic crisis and increase in the price of erectile dysfunction drugs have in fact not hampered the sales of pharmacies.
The wholesale acquisition cost of Viagra was increased by 9% last May while the wholesale acquisition cost of Cialis was increased by 7% last August. While the increase in their WAC resulted to an increase in their retail prices, sales for these drugs did not only remain constant but even improved. Pharmacies say their customers are not only increasing but they are coming back for reorders. There are also a significant number of new customers placing their orders for erectile dysfunction drugs like Cialis, Levitra and Viagra. And despite the worsening global crisis the sales of these three drugs remains strong.
There was also an increase in Viagra’s revenue for the three quarters of last year or a total of $1.432 billion. Revenues for Cialis increased by 21% for last year’s third quarter compared to the same quarter in 2007. The three quarter revenue of Cialis was also up by 24% or a total of $1.075 billion. Levitra’s revenues remained the same with total sales of $342.5 million for the three quarters of 2008. During recession, consumers are even prone to limiting their consumption of even the necessary items.
