Pfizer withdrew its app for selling viagra OTC in EU

It’s all over the news, Pfizer withdrew the application to have Viagra 50mg sold over the counter in the European Union. This would have made Viagra 50mg a “non prescription” medication in Europe. The company believed that a 50mg dose of Viagra would have been ok for non-prescription and meets the guidelines set by the European Commission for changing classification of a medical product to a non-prescription.

They withdrew to fully consider the comments from Europe’s main medicines agency, deciding that there were still some concerns for offering Viagra 50mg without the prescription from a doctor. But Viagra 50mg and 100mg is still being prescribed by doctors worldwide and 50mg is the recommended starting dose for men who are just starting to treat erectile dysfunction. Do you think they should sell viagra 50mg over the counter in Europe?
