Cialis Not For All Men

Cialis is the third drug to have been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration as treatment for erectile dysfunction.  It may be a Johnny-come-lately in the erectile dysfunction industry next to Viagra and Levitra but it is making its mark as an effective ED medication.

However, Cialis is not for all men despite a believed that the medication can improve their sexual functions and solve all their sexual woes.  While it works just like the other erectile dysfunction drugs, Cialis is somehow different because it has a longer efficacy.  But just like the other ED drugs, Cialis is not for everyone no matter how great their need for the medication is. A patient may be suffering from erectile dysfunction which can be treated through Cialis but if his doctor has ruled out sexual activity for him because of a cardiovascular or heart problem then Cialis is not advisable. It is important that patients should confer with their doctors closely and inform them of medications being taken and of past or present illnesses in order to get the best treatment for him.

There are cases when Cialis might be able to remedy the symptoms of erectile dysfunction but if it poses danger to the health and life of the patients (such as when he has a heart condition) then doctors will not advise the intake of Cialis.  Patients who have suffered from a heart attack or who may have blood pressure problems (low or high blood pressure), liver problems or eye disorders are not allowed to take in Cialis .

On the other hand, patients who have decreased kidney function (whether moderate or severe) may be allowed to take in Cialis but at a once a day low dose of 5mg.  if you are taking in medications like Ritonoavir or Ketoconazole, make sure to tell your doctor about it so he can regulate your dosage to a maximum of only 10mg for every 72 hours.

You should never take in Cialis with alpha blockers--medications for hypertension or nitrates because it is a deadly combination that can lead to a very low blood pressure which can result to death.

While Cialis has been declared generally safe, there is a possibility of suffering from adverse side effects depending on your overall health. Thus, every patient should undergo a thorough medical examination before he is prescribed Cialis to avoid or even just minimize the adverse effects.  This will also help the doctor prescribe the correct dosage taking into consideration the medications being taken in by the patient and the extent of his erectile dysfunction problem.
