Sex after Spinal Cord Injuries?
Dr. Francois Giuliano of the Raymond Poincare Hospital in Garches, France said he and his colleagues have studied men with spinal cord injuries and report that only about 25% on them are capable of having sexual intercourse.
The good news is that these French researches found that Cialis could improve that number three fold. They studied men with an average age of 38 that have suffered spinal cord injuries in Spain, France, Italy, and Germany. Their study encompassed almost 200 men which was funded by Eli Lilly, maker of Cialis.
Men surveyed about sexual function None of these men received any treatment for a period of one month, then were surveyed about sexual function and found that they had moderate erectile dysfunction. The men were then split into two groups, one of over 140, and the other of almost 45. The 140 group were assigned Cialis, and the other were assigned a placebo. For a 12 week period, the men could take no more than one pill a day as needed before sexual activity. The placebo group succeeded in sexual intercourse just under 17% of the time. Where as the Cialis group had a success rate of almost 50% of the time. Cialis is comprised of a drug called tadalafil, which helps increase blood flow to the genitals in men. The major cause of ED in men is the lack of blood flow to the penis. Pfizer, the makers of Viagra, and GlaxoSmithKline, the makers of Levitra, have also funded similar studies. They have also had varying degrees of success with helping men with spinal cord injuries obtain erections suitable for sexual intercourse. |
